Ischgl, with its stunning scenery and efficient high altitude lift system, is a resort of immense paradise. Situated high in the Paznaun valley in the heart of the Silvretta mountains, this fashionable alpine village is home to some of the best skiing in Austria. Ischgl boasts the largest terrain park in Europe, and is Austria’s second most important ski resort, behind St Anton, in the German’s opinions.
Ischgl houses a collection of sophisticated hotels and cavernous bars. A pedestrian walkway, cut through the rock around which the town was built, provides easy access to pistes, shops, and restaurants, regardless of where you choose to stay.
The resort is linked on piste across the Swiss frontier to the duty-free village of Samnaun. It is also connected to the small resort of Galtür by free shuttle bus during the day.
The easy nursery slopes in Ischgl are situated on the mountain, reached by lift. Galtür has its own nursery slopes at Wirl.
The vast “Silvretta Ski Arena” includes six interconnecting valleys, and with Iscghl presenting over 220km of the 340km of pistes in the area, it is an ideal base to explore this beautiful region. Ischgl has over 50 blue and red runs, many long and wide open, on which intermediates will revel in the challenge that is presented to them.
For the advanced skier, long red and black runs sweep down into the beautiful Fimbatal on the edge of the ski area. Some of the most rewarding off-piste runs here can be found off the Gampenbahn chair.
