Sauze d'Oulx is situated in Vialattea , a very famous skiing resort which includes 5 villages: Sestriere, Sauze d'Oulx, Sansicario, Cesana, Claviere and the french Montgenèvre.
As one of the larger resorts in the Milky Way with access to nearly 400km of runs, Sauze d’Oulx remains one of Italy’s favourite resorts. As well as excellent skiing, the original village has retained its old world charm, while the newer part of the resort provides all you need for an enjoyable fun filled holiday.
The slopes above Sauze are extensive, with something to suit most skiers’ and boarders’ needs – although the area is particularly good for intermediates who can revel in a ridiculously wide choice of runs. Most of the runs are down pretty, wooded slopes, but there’s also some open terrain, particularly from the top of the Monte Fraiteve.
Beginners normally start at the top of the Sportina 4 person chairlift, and progress onto the wooded runs down to the village after a few days tuition.
Advanced skiers will appreciate the easy connection into Sestriere, and from San Sicario you have access to the endless pistes of the Milky Way, which will keep even the most seasoned skier entertained. A day trip to Montgenevre and back is a possibility with some fast skiing and plenty of stamina required!
Apres-Ski:
If the sun’s shining, then head to Bar Assietta in the centre of Sauze…..a popular terraced bar ideal for early evening drinks.
Most bars in town give out free tapas-style snacks when you buy après-ski drinks. One of the favourite places to hang out is the Derby bar, which has a great ambience, good music, and lots of comfy sofas on which to relax.
For live music every night from 11pm, head down to Vagabondi, and then later on head to the Cotton Club to join up with the rest of the party animals!
