With the ski season quickly approaching, the Ski In Luxury team are busier than ever helping people find their perfect luxury ski holiday. With a growing demand for great social media content, we’re delighted to welcome Dana, our new Social Media and Digital Marketing Executive. Read a bit about Dana below…
At just 6 years old, I was lucky enough to go on my first ever ski holiday to Avoriaz. My older brother and I were put into ski school together to learn how to ski. I presume that my parents thought we would take care of each other in ski school, instead we were fighting over who was behind the instructor the whole week – there’s nothing like a bit of healthy competition! I feel extremely lucky that I was able to learn to ski when I was so young and I have some great memories from ski school. One being my first experience on a button lift – the first child on the lift fell over, the child behind fell on top, the next piled on top, until we all ended up in a big heap on the mountain! I haven’t particularly liked button lifts since.
Since my teens, I have fallen deeper and deeper in love with skiing. I love the freedom you feel on the mountains, the breathtaking views and the endless amount of food that you’re allowed to consume because you’ve “burnt so many calories skiing all day.” One of my favourite parts of a ski holiday is finding a lovely mountain restaurant and enjoying a delicious lunch in the sunshine. Admittedly, I struggle to get motivated to ski again after being sat in a deckchair sunbathing!
My favourite ski area must be the Three Valleys due to the huge choice of pistes, the wide runs and the fact that there are two Folie Douce’s to choose from for some fun après ski! Meribel stands out as a top resort for me. I love that it’s central in the Three Valleys and you can ski over to Courchevel or Val Thorens in a day. Plus, the village is so pretty, especially at Christmas.
Christmas is such a magical time to be in the mountains. The snow, the pretty lights, the food, playing Wham! “Last Christmas” on repeat – what more could you want? Every time we’ve been skiing over Christmas, it’s tradition to ski in fancy dress on Christmas Day and then head to the nearest Folie Douce for some dancing on the tables! When we dressed up as Minions, we were constantly stopped by children so that they could take pictures of us – we quite enjoyed being local ‘celebs’ for a day.
Skiing is a physically demanding holiday so I always like to stay somewhere with a spa or at least a hot tub! There’s nothing better than taking off your ski boots and soothing your sore muscles in the spa. If there’s a hot tub outside, you’ll find me relaxing under the stars with a glass of bubbly – after all, you’re on holiday!
Amongst all the skiing, I managed to find some time to study Multimedia Journalism at Bournemouth University and have been working in social media marketing ever since. With a passion for skiing and social media, I’m eager to get my teeth stuck into this role and showcase the huge portfolio of fabulous luxury chalets that Ski In Luxury has to offer!
