Many luxury ski resorts <\/a>offer a thrill-seeking, exhilarating sliding experience, ranging in length from a couple of kilometres to over 10 kilometres! Some toboggan runs are gentle, family friendly tracks whilst some offer a much steeper slope not for the faint-hearted!<\/p>\n

Courchevel Moriond, France<\/strong><\/a><\/h3>\n

Courchevel offers an extremely wide range of activities to suit everyone, and there are actually two toboggan runs to choose from in the villages. Courchevel 1850<\/a> is home to a 2km floodlit toboggan run which starts at the top of the Tovets run, near the Forum Centre, and runs down to Courchevel Village<\/a>. \u00a0To get back up you simply use the Grangettes t\u00e9l\u00e9cabine, which remains open until about 7.30pm.<\/p>\n

The newest toboggan run in the Alps opened in December 2017 in Courchevel 1650<\/a>. Its starting point is at the top of the Ariondaz Gondola and it is 3km long! With a 450 metre vertical drop, average gradient of 15% (max 25%) and 4 underground sections, it’s sure to be one of the highlights of your holiday when not skiing!<\/p>\n

Top Tip:<\/strong>\u00a0Ski In Luxury Ski Expert, Gavin, tried it our for himself in December. He would advise trying it during the day, it is much easier to see where you’re going and if you take a GoPro<\/a> with you the images are a lot clearer.<\/p>\n

To grab your pass, head to the Courchevel Tourist Office<\/a> in Courchevel 1850, or the new Ariondaz Gondola in Courchevel Moriond.<\/p>\n

\u00a0La Tzoumaz, Switzerland<\/strong><\/a><\/h3>\n

In La Tzoumaz, just outside Verbier <\/a>you\u2019ll find the longest sledge run in French-speaking Switzerland<\/a>, offering 10km of thrill-seeking adventures in the Savoleyres area. Grab your rental at the top of the Savoleyres cable car (2,354m) and enjoy incredible views of the Rhone Valley and the Valais mountains before taking to the piste and making your way down to finish in La Tzoumaz (1,506m).<\/p>\n

You can take your time and enjoy the surroundings with your friends and family, or for the more daring type, take the descent in a more competitive manner \u2013 the choice is yours!<\/p>\n

Andermatt, Switzerland<\/strong><\/a><\/h3>\n

The run in the\u00a0luxury ski resort of Andermatt<\/a> offers up to 5km of tobogganing, with spectacular views over the Urserntal Valley. Due to is gentle gradient, it is great for novices and children alike. The length of the run is also quite remarkable as you can toboggan here for 5km’s in one stretch.<\/p>\n

You have the option of taking the Matterhorn rail from Andermatt or Sedrun, or alternatively the chairlift to arrive at Mittelstation Natschen where the toboggan run starts.<\/p>\n

Top Tip:<\/strong> Make sure you keep an eye on the signs and bare left near the end of the toboggan run. Ski In Luxury Director Andy missed it and ended up on a rather steep piste to finish!<\/p>\n

Val Thorens, France<\/strong><\/a><\/h3>\n

Val Thorens is a ski resort in France<\/a> and is home to 6km\u2019s of serious tobogganing fun which is available for anyone over 5 years old to slide down. Rendezvous at the Chalet du Toboggan, situated above the bottom of the Cascades chairlift. From there you\u2019ll have an 8 minute ascent on the P\u00e9clet Funitel to the foot of the incredible P\u00e9clet glacier, at an altitude of 3,000m.<\/p>\n

Choose to take on the run in the daytime or evening, the choice is yours.<\/p>\n

Top Tip:<\/strong> At one or two points the toboggan run crosses the slopes. Get out and walk over to the other side to re-join the run. Avoid colliding with a passing skier!<\/p>\n

Anyone over 7 years old can enjoy the pleasure of steering your way down this 4km run, with a long series of bends called \u201cThe Roc rapids,\u201d followed by a quick change of smaller turns down the \u201cNever ending Canyon.\u201d<\/p>\n

Top Tip:<\/strong> You\u2019ll learn (after the first 5 face-plants) that lots of small manoeuvres are better than yanking both brakes upwards as hard as you can!<\/p>\n
