Chalet Matsuzaka is a private, small luxury hotel, with strong Japanese influences. After frequenting the Japanese Ski resorts, the owners became enamoured with the way in which the Japanese Chalets and Inns were run, as well as the exquisite touches making après-ski just that extra bit more special. Chalet Matsuzaka can welcome up to 28 guests across its 10 spacious bedrooms and features a luxurious spa area and a restaurant.
The chalet has a cosy lounge where you can enjoy a glass of wine in front of the fire before dinner. Being such a large property, the chalet has ample space for large groups of friends and families or they can also welcome corporate requests too. For dinner, head through into the spacious restaurant to enjoy a delicious meal and views of the valley below.
After a long day on the slopes, immerse yourself in a true Japanese Spa experience. With inside and outside hot pools of running water, watch as the last rays of sun disappear behind the mountains, the rose glow fades to darkness and allow the spirit to emerge refreshed, renewed and serene. There is also a sauna and spa treatments can be arranged in the two beautiful treatment rooms.
Chalet Matsuzaka has 10 bedrooms, all individually designed, south facing with balconies and unforgettable views across the valley. There are different room sizes, layouts and three styles to choose from; Hayashi, Savoyarde and Mansarde.
The two Hyashi rooms are twins/doubles and each feature an en-suite shower room. The twin room is accessible for those with reduced mobility. There are 5 Savoyard rooms each with a south facing balcony and en-suite bathroom. These rooms can sleep up to 4 guests. Lastly, the three Mansarde rooms are the hotel suites and are located on the top floor of the chalet. These large suites can host up to 5 guests and have en-suites with whirlpool bathtubs and large showers.
For that extra convenience the chalet has ample undercover parking.
Prices are per person based on 2 people sharing a room, on the standard "Hayashi" bedroom type or next available room category. This is available for either a fully catered service (dinner on 5 nights) or a bed and breakfast basis.
Other room types are available, please ask for further details. On peak dates, prices include dinner service on 6 nights.
The chalet can also be booked on an exclusive use basis for large groups up to 24 guests, please enquire. Additional guests on top require confirmation.
Please Note: Chalet Matsuzaka will be undergoing renovations ahead of the 24/25 season. It will transform from a small luxury hotel to a 5-bedroom chalet offered on a bed and breakfast basis. New images will be added to the gallery to reflect these changes as soon as they are available. The room layout and chalet capacity sections will be updated on completion of the current ski season.
Chalet Matsuzaka is located approx. 200m from the small shopping centre and the high-speed chair-lift in the Les Eucherts area of La Rosière 1850. The chalet is just 100m from the ski slopes. and skiing back to the chalet is possible from the Papillon piste. La Rosière 1850 itself is a short 10 min walk through the forest path or a 5 min hop in the free shuttle bus.
The chalet also enjoys unhindered views over the Haute Tarentaise valley.

Hayashi bedrooms :
Two bedrooms decorated in Japanese “washitsu” style with tatami, shoji and futon beds. Nestled beside the forest at the western side of the building, these rooms also benefit from being next to the Japanese Rotemburo Spa area.

Savoyard bedrooms :
Five typically Savoyard style bedrooms with a more generous living area and with different configurations for two, three and up to a family of five.

Mansarde Suites :
Three very spacious rooms taking full advantage of the height under the roof with beamed ceilings, large windows and additional elegant features such as whirlpool bath and lounge area.

Discounts & Supplements:
1. Children under 2 yrs old are free of charge (sharing parents room). No food is provided. We can provide a cot if it is specified at the time of booking.
2. A small proportion of our rooms are able to accept additional beds. Additional beds in a room are charged €665 for an adult and €525 for a child for catered stays. B&B the extra charge for an adult is from €65 EUR and a child is from €35 EUR. Please contact us for availability.
3. Sole occupancy supplement is the total room price (twice the per person rate) less €350.
