Three Valleys

Luxury Ski Chalets in Three Valleys, France

The Three Valleys, Les 3 Vallées to the French, is the largest linked ski area in the world, and no destination anywhere concentrates more exceptional ski chalets. Around 600km of connected pistes join a family of celebrated resorts, from the palatial addresses of Courchevel 1850 to the snow-sure heights of Val Thorens, with every shade of luxury in between. Whether you are planning a fully catered ski chalet holiday in the Three Valleys or a sleek apartment on the piste for a long weekend, this is where the choice is richest.

The Resorts of the Three Valleys

The Three Valleys covers three distinct valleys: Vallee de Saint Bon, Vallee des Allues and La Vallee des Belleville. Each has a character all of its own.

The Courchevel Valley

Vallee de Saint Bon consists of Courchevel 1850, Courchevel 1650 Moriond, Courchevel 1550 Village, Courchevel 1300 Le Praz and La Tania. Courchevel 1850 is the flagship, with a greater concentration of five star addresses than any ski resort in the world; Moriond and Village offer sunshine and gentler prices, Le Praz keeps its old-village soul, and La Tania is the quiet, wooded base that families love.

The Meribel Valley

Vallee des Allues consists of Meribel, Meribel Village, Meribel Mottaret, Les Allues and Brides-les-Bains. Meribel sits at the geographic heart of the Three Valleys, which makes it the perfect base for skiing the whole area, and its strict chalet-style architecture has kept the resort as handsome as any in the Alps.

The Belleville Valley

La Vallee des Belleville consists of Val Thorens, Les Menuires, Saint Martin de Belleville and Orelle. Val Thorens, the highest resort in Europe at 2,300m, delivers the surest snow and the liveliest energy, while Saint Martin de Belleville is the connoisseur's choice: an authentic Savoyard village with quietly wonderful chalets and one lift ride to the whole circuit.

Catered Chalets, Apartments & Accommodation in the Three Valleys

This is the catered chalet's heartland: in Courchevel and Meribel, private chefs and chalet teams run to a standard many hotels would envy, with menus shaped around your party and a host and driver keeping the week effortless. Accommodation in the Three Valleys runs just as wide as the skiing: serviced apartments above the snow front in Val Thorens, ski in ski out chalets and chalets with hot tubs throughout the area, and self-catered homes for those who prefer their own rhythm. Skiing the Three Valleys

The Three Valleys offers 600km of piste, 118km of cross country skiing and 170 lifts, the highest reaching 3,230m, and with the great majority of the skiing above 1,800m the snow record is superb. Beginners are spoilt in Courchevel's gentle bowls and La Tania's sheltered greens, intermediates can cruise valley to valley and barely repeat a piste in a week, and experts have the couloirs above Courchevel and the big, steep faces of the Belleville side to keep them honest. Few ski areas reward a full week so completely.

Getting to the Three Valleys

Located approximately two and a half hours from Geneva airport, all resorts are very easily accessible, with Lyon, Chambery and Grenoble offering alternative routes in. Rail travellers can reach Moutiers, a short transfer from Courchevel, Meribel and the Belleville valley. Tell our Ski Specialists where you are travelling from and they will map the easiest route to your chalet.

Three Valleys Ski Chalet Holidays: Your Questions Answered

Which Three Valleys resort has the best luxury chalets?

Courchevel 1850 takes the crown for outright opulence, with the area's most palatial chalets. Meribel offers classic chalet charm at the centre of the lift system, and Saint Martin de Belleville is the pick for quiet, authentic luxury. Between them, the Three Valleys holds the greatest concentration of luxury ski chalets anywhere in the world.

Can I book a catered ski chalet in the Three Valleys?

Yes, and there is no better place on earth to do it. Catered chalets in the Three Valleys come with a private chef and host, and in many cases a driver, with everything from menus to mountain lunches arranged around you. See our luxury catered chalets for the current collection.

Is one lift pass valid across the whole Three Valleys?

Yes. The Three Valleys pass covers every resort and lift in the area, including Orelle. Cheaper single-valley passes are available, which can make sense for beginners staying close to home, but most guests want the full pass; skiing the whole circuit is the point of coming.

How big is the Three Valleys ski area?

It is the largest linked ski area in the world: 600km of connected pistes, 170 lifts and skiing up to 3,230m, spread across three valleys and more than a dozen villages. You could ski here every day for a week and never take the same run twice.

Where should families stay in the Three Valleys?

Meribel and La Tania are the family favourites, pairing excellent ski schools with calm, walkable villages, and many of our family ski chalets here come with the bunk rooms, pools and cinema rooms that keep every generation happy. Saint Martin de Belleville suits families seeking somewhere quieter still.
