The newest resort in the vast Three Valleys ski area, La Tania was initially developed in time for the 1992 Albertville Winter Olympics, but has expanded significantly in the past decade. Located at a respectable altitude of 1,350 metres on the road that runs between Courchevel 1300 (Le Praz) and Méribel. La Tania is the ideal place for anyone who would like to explore the 600km of pistes across the 3 Valleys, but who appreciates good value for luxury.
Family Ski Holidays in La Tania
La Tania links into the Courchevel sector of Les Trois Vallées, and just 2 lifts can whisk you up to the heart of
Courchevel 1850, or alternatively, over into the Meribel valley. This seamless access to the wider Three Valleys ski area is one of the main draws to La Tania, while the small, pedestrianised village centre ensures it's easy and convenient for
family ski holidays in the 3 Valleys. With the main ski runs ending directly in the heart of the village, many of the ski chalets in La Tania enjoy
ski in/ski out access. The small size of the village also ensures that most chalets are no more than a few minutes' walk (or a very quick journey with the chalet's driver service), from the main heart of the resort.
At the end of the day the cruising Moretta Blanche red run, and the blue Folyeres piste sweeping gently through the trees are wonderful wide runs that take you back down to La Tania. For beginner and early intermediate skiers, the Plan Fontaine green slope is an ideal alternative from the top of the gondola back down into resort. During a heavy snowfall or in flat light, the tree-lined slopes above La Tania provide some of the most enjoyable skiing in the whole of the Trois Vallées, but its position off the beaten track means that the area is always under-used; always a benefit in the busy Three Valleys ski domaine.
Apres Ski in La Tania
The heart of La Tania apres ski is Pub Le Ski Lodge which sits just at the base of the home run back into the village. With a sunny terrace it's a favoured spot for lunch, as well as boasting highly popular apres happy hours and regular live music.
Top Restaurants Not to Miss
Whilst catered ski chalets in La Tania are always popular, it's good to know that there are several well regarded restaurants in the village, from quick and easy bistros to the Michelin starred Le Farcon which is perfect for a special evening out. La Taiga is a popular spot for the Savoyard classics of tartiflette, fondue and raclette. It's also worth noting that the free navette bus operates between La Tania and Courchevel Le Praz into the evening so there's plenty of opportunity to explore further afield.
