Sleeping up to 11 guests over the 5 bedrooms, Chalet Sotciastel is ideal for a large family group, or group of friends looking to get away from the hustle and bustle of a busy ski resort and enjoy the peaceful tranquillity of the mountains.
The historic, converted farmhouse of Chalet Sotciastel has been lovingly resorted with a specific focus on maintaining the original magical charm of this extraordinary building. Dating back to 1296 Chalet Sotciastel, perched on a small plateau above St Leonard, is steeped with history.
Upon entering the chalet, you are greeted with the huge hallway and the immediate sense of the history of the building. Heading down the hallway, you will discover the large, open living space on the left. It is the ideal place to gather around the large dining table to enjoy sumptuous mountain dishes, or cuddle up in the cosy adjoining TV room on the sofa. A traditional log burner will create a warmth and welcoming feel to the space to allow you to completely relax. A separate small table and banquette seating area is found in the large windows on the landing, an ideal hot chocolate spot whilst watching the snow fall outdoors.
Heading downstairs from the main area, you will find the wellness area, complete with its sauna and authentic old stonework and historic wooden beams. A wonderful place to relax after a long day in the mountains. Alternately, immerse yourself in the bubbles of the outdoor hot tub. Why not request a spa treatment during your stay for a special treat evening after a long day on the mountain?
Outside, the property is surrounded by beautiful meadows and sits under the protection of the surrounding evergreen forest, making the chalet feel cosy and sheltered, even on the coldest winter evening. Whilst, protected by the trees, the elevated position still allows far-reaching views towards the Marmolada glacier and Gardenaccia Massif. On an active farm, there are always a lot of fun things to do, and kids will revel in the open space for snowman building or a friendly snowball fight.
Upstairs, you will find the five bedrooms. All wonderfully appointed and furnished in Loden and linen fabrics, which are typical of the style and period of the original building, the harmony of new and old has been seamlessly stitched together in these special rooms. Three double bedrooms, complete with en-suite facilities, are found on the second floor, along with a single bedroom that shares a 'Jack and Jill' en-suite with one of the doubles. Two of these rooms also boast balconies offing their own, unique, extensive views of the surrounding snow capped peaks. A further two bedrooms, including the spectacular master bedroom, can be discovered on the third floor.
This chalet really is one to be seen to be believed. A truly unique experience in the heart of the Italian mountains.
Prices are based on exclusive use of the chalet for up to 10 guests and will include daily breakfast, afternoon tea, daily housekeeping and a driver shuttle service to and from the pistes. An 11th guest can be added at a supplement of €130 per day.

The Chalet Sotciastel is a relaxing and peaceful retreat for anyone looking to be at one with nature and in an authentic setting. The farm is located on a small plateau above Saint Leonard with wide-stretching views of the valley and over to the Marmolada glacier.
Badia and San Leonardo are a 5 minute drive away with the shuttle service, where you will find your local convenience shops, bars and restaurants as well as access to the skiing. This area gives access to the Alta Badia and Dolomoti Superski. Choose between skiing in the La Crusc/Santa Croce ski tour which is a quieter ski area of 5km offering beginner skiing, free-ride, non-skiing activities and a gourmet ski tour of 8 mountain huts. A delight away from mass-tourism!
Alternatively, you can connect into the wider Sella Ronda ski area via the Pradüc 4 -seater chairlift from Badia over to La Villa for further exploration and lots of terrain for all abilities. And with the included ski shuttle service, guests can be transported directly to and from a lift within the Sella Ronda, providing direct access to the world-renowned ski circuit.

This chalet team know how to make you feel at home, from having the chalet beautifully presented for your arrival, to laying out a beautiful spread at breakfast and afternoon tea. With daily housekeeping, you will always come home to an inviting and well presented space.
In the winter, children will love the outdoor spaces for snowman building and playing. Guests are encouraged to make the most of the surrounding area and try out skiing, skating, cross-country skiing, or even snowshoeing.
The chalet team will gladly drive you in the morning to Pedratsches at the lift station of Heilig Kreuz. From there, you can enter the fantastic ski area of Alta Badia. Alternatively, the chalet team are more than happy to drive to a lift within the Sella Ronda, meaning you have direct access to the world-renowned ski circuit as you please. In the afternoon, they will pick you up there again and bring you back home in time for tea or coffee with scrumptious cookies and hot cake. Many home produces, and local products are at the centre of their delicious treats in store for you.
On request, dinner services can also be arranged (at extra cost) and allow you to finish the day's adventures with a traditional Ladin dinner in the comfort of your own chalet.
