If you’re planning a ski holiday to Verbier this winter, you’re in for an alpine escape that mixes world-class terrain, high-end comfort and freshly upgraded infrastructure. Here’s everything you need to know about what’s new and what makes Verbier a top pick for luxury travellers in the 2025/26 season.
New Heights of Skiing Infrastructure
Farewell to a Legend
This season marks the final winter for Switzerland’s oldest operating gondola, dating back to 1970. The Verbier-Savoleyres cable car is an icon, but its long-awaited replacement signifies Verbier’s committment to skier comfort, mountain accessibility and efficiency.
The original cars will be auctioned in summer 2026, making this your last chance to ride an iconic piece of alpine history before it’s gone. It’s replacement, the Les Esserts-Savoleyres Télémixte is partially operational this year.
Brand New Les Esserts-Savoleyres Télémixte
In November 2024 construction began on the new télémixte lift (a lift that carries both chairlifts and gondola cars – similar to the La Chaux Express), to create a seamless connection between Verbier and La Tzoumaz in the 4 Vallées. The first phase of this innovative hybrid lift opens this winter, offering a more efficient link from Les Planards to Savoleyres.
With 6-seater chairs and 10-seater cabins, when the full system is complete, it will carry 1,675 skiers every hour and give guests a faster, smoother ride to more varied terrain during ski holidays to Verbier this winter.
Speeding up the Lac II Chairlift
This winter, Verbier is also replacing the two-seater Lac II chair with a new high-speed six-person chairlift. This will improve flow between Lac des Vaux and Col de Chassoure, a vital route for those seeking Verbier’s legendary freeride terrain.
The improved journey time will be 5 minutes, and capacity will increase from 1,200 people to up to 2,000 people per hour.

New Culinary Highlights
La Table Verbier
The latest venture from renowned chefs Pierre-Jean and Tibo, La Table Verbier opens next to the Esserts piste. It’s perfectly positioned for long ski-in lunches or après-ski dinners. With a focus on authenticity, conviviality and top-tier ingredients, it’s tipped to become Verbier’s must-visit dining address this season.
Le Chaman
A new brasserie-style restaurant opening for winter 2025/26, Le Chaman offers a relaxed yet refined setting with local, seasonal flavours elevated into gourmet plates. Expect creative combinations, mountain comfort food reimagined, and a warm, stylish atmosphere that captures the spirit of Verbier.
Improved Access All Winter
Thanks to excellent early season snow, the Verbier ski area partially opened on 1st November 2025, allowing for ski weekends before the main season opening on 6th December 2025.
This season also sees improved benefits for Epic Pass holders skiing the 4 Vallées. On a ski holiday to Verbier this winter, Epic Pass holders can enjoy 5 consecutive days of unrestricted skiing across the entire 4 Vallées ski area with it’s 410km of pistes and world-class back-country terrain, encompassing 6 resorts.
