On the 8th and 9th May 2015 at The Elite London event, the Ski In Luxury Team were very privileged to meet Tim Dudgeon as he unveiled his phenomenal invention, BODYCarver – The Ultimate Fitness Trainer.

So fascinated and intrigued by this pioneering new piece of equipment that focuses on ski and snowboard fitness, we had to find out more and of course have a trial ourselves.

BODYCarver was pioneered by Olympian and World Cup Great British Freestlye skier Tim Dudgeon. Tim is also a fully qualified Ski Trainer holding British, Canadian and French qualifications. After competing in the 1998 Winter Olympics in Nagano, Tim retired from competitive skiing and entered the world of fitness. Whilst working as a personal fitness trainer, Tim realised that there wasn’t a specific machine to focus on ski fitness out of the ski season – the idea for BODYCarver was conceived!

Tim’s dream was to bring the incredible fitness and fun that people achieve whilst Skiing and Snowboarding into a gym environment.

The first prototype was a far cry from the machine that was officially launched at the Elite London. It was back to the drawing board and with a little help from some of Tim’s contacts from the world of skiing and snowboarding. The machine went through 4 more prototypes before being finally ready to be unveiled to the world.

Here’s me having a go on BODYCarver whilst Tim expertly talked me through what to do.

Until 2008 the skis for the machine were still being used with regular ski bindings and boots. Although this worked well and great for regular skiers it was agreed that gym users would not want to use a piece of equipment regularly if they had to put ski boots on every time!

This was when the trainer/regular shoe binding was devised. This new development enables users to train on BODYCarver using their regular gym shoes. This improvement really transformed the product into a piece of fitness equipment that could be used by everyone, quickly and safely.

2005 was the year that interactive gaming was introduced into the development process. This really would bring fun and fitness together. After nearly 3 years of developing the wireless gaming technology and software, a BODYCarver prototype was ready for a lengthy Health Club Trial.

The interactive gaming allows people to virtually see the slope they are going down whilst they are on the fitness machine working out, it counts how many turns/carves you have done and it all adds to the fun. It makes the whole experience far more realistic – you even experience the dreaded leg burn!

Now officially launched, BODYCarver is endorsed and used by a wealth of professional athletes and skiers including International Ski Racers Natalia and Giulia Harte both of whom were also with Tim at the Elite London demonstrating exactly what BODYCarver can do and what it was designed for.

Retailing at £39,950 (inc VAT) BODYCarver is no ordinary piece of gym equipment, every installation is overseen by Tim Dudgeon himself who will personally train new customers at the same time.

We would like to say a big thank you to Tim and if you would like to know more about BODYCarver please drop us an email.
